While healthy lifestyles are increasingly
important, consumers are clearly allowing
themselves to indulge as well. Cookie sales
from the last year show that.
Average weekly cookie sales per store and
cookie contribution to bakery department
sales both increased across the board in the
52 weeks ending June 30. Total U.S. weekly
sales per store jumped from $1,391 to $1,449,
including an $81 weekly jump in the Central
region. Each region saw increases, with the
West region seeing the smallest jump.
Cookie contribution to bakery department
sales rose from 11.2 percent to 11.5 percent
across the U.S. The East region saw the
biggest increase in that category, jumping
from 10.6 percent to 11.1 percent.

Everyday cookies were the biggest subcategory at 47.4 percent, while iced cookies
accounted for 21.7 percent of sales.

healthy spike in sales around the Christmas
and Valentine's Day holidays while
remaining fairly flat the rest of the year.
