maintaining product temperature. Through-the-closure ventilation and

After its Red Robin success, Anchor saw the potential to expand its
line in foodservice - including retail foodservice, says Mike Thaler,
the company's executive vice president of marketing. A couple "of
the more progressive" grocery store chains are currently considering
adding Crisp Food Container packaging for their hot to-go foods, Thaler
says. The line currently has three products; by the end of this year,
there should be ten more.
"As supermarkets try to offer convenience, whether it's grocery delivery
or pickup, they realize that they're facing the exact same challenges
as restaurants," Thaler says. "French fries, fried chicken, anything with
breading or texture -or buns that can get soggy. Those encompass a
tremendous amount of the foods customers want delivered."
The new additions to the Crisp Food Container line will include single-,
two- and three-compartment packs ranging in size from 6 in. x 6 in. to
9.5 in. x 10.5 in. and available in both hinged and two-piece versions,
Placon extends HomeFresh line
New additions to Fitchburg, Wisconsin-based thermoformed plastic
packaging specialist Placon Corp.'s HomeFresh line bring premium
design, a more modern look and unsurpassed functionality to many
hot meal offerings.
Available in five sizes ranging from 8 to 32 ounces, the new HomeFresh
Entrée microwaveable containers can be double- and inter-stacked.
Designed to fit into standard small and large carryout bags, they won't
slide and spill, thanks to deep snap grooves that allow lids to close
securely with an audible snap. Large tabs make them easy to reopen.
In addition, the HomeFresh containers come with a variety of lid
options, including an EcoStar® PET lid.
